Eventually, I have to blog about something other than Italy or traveling, as we have no imminent travel plans. Waaah!!

So, in the mean time I probably should get serious about those extra pounds I put on pounding gelato and pasta.

I’ve been tracking my distance on my iPhone for a while, and if you haven’t already, check out the health app on your iPhone. It’s already calculating your steps and distance everyday all you have to do is check it out.

I was recently given a Fitbit by more fabulous and generous husband, so now I’m getting "credit" for all those steps I take when I’m not holding onto my phone (which I hope is a lot).

Since the 1960’s when pedometers first came out, 10,000 steps a day has been the daily recommendation.  10,000 steps by the way equates out to about 5 miles.

You would think it would be pretty easy, and it is, but you have to be intentional. So for the month of July I’ve set a goal to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Who wants to join in?

I get in my 10,000 by walking the kids to the school to ride bikes.

By walking the power line trail.

By taking several short walks a day.

There is more and more research coming out that says even 10 minutes of activity can have similar benefits to an hour long workout!

Anyone want to go for a walk?
