Some Springtime Favorites

Sunday, February 19, 2017

Confession, spring is my least favorite season. As an Oregonian, it’s pretty much just an extended winter with slightly warmer temperatures. All the stores come out with pretty dresses, short sleeves, and open toed shoes, meanwhile we remain freezing while trying to pretend it’s not actually still 55 and raining.
Even though the weather doesn’t usually cooperate there is still a tug to freshen up, clean up, and generally make way for the new beginning that spring represents. Either that or catch a flight to somewhere warm and sunny. I’d like to do both.
Alas, the vacation isn’t happening at this time so I’m going to focus on bringing spring to the inside of my house. My eye is really drawn to lighter wood tones and plenty of texture.

I’ve loved these oversized prayer beads for a few years. They would pop up on someone’s IG page only to discover that they weren’t available for sale. I finally tracked them down and you can find them here (price is in Canadian dollars). The cross is perfect anytime of year but especially appropriate for Lent & Easter.

What’s more spring then bringing in something living?! Most plants live a short life in my house, thanks to little light and my lack of a green thumb. Still…. it’s cheaper than fresh flowers if I can make them last longer then a week. This snake plant is suppose to be quite hard to kill. I’ll let you know.

It might be a week after Valentines day but Target is ready for Easter. I found these cute wood like eggs in the craft section and now I too am ready for Easter 40+ days in advance. Where is that monkey emoji covering it’s eyes. You can also find the eggs on line here.

Are you sensing a theme? Everything I’ve been drawn to lately is light, natural, and textured. Even the baby is wearing white :) Here’s hoping we get some sun before June.

  1. I'm loving wood elements too! Love the wood vase, where is it from? Love the cute little baby hiding behind the corbels!

    1. I first saw it on an IG story from Magnolia Market and I called the store to see if it was available online. Sadly, it wasn't so I did some creative research and found it on Amazon. I just looked tonight and the price has more then doubled! What the heck? Anyway, it's made by Creative-Co Op and it's their small wood urn (it's actually not small at all). I think I saw it on Wayfair too? Target actually had some pretty cool wood planters in their new outdoor section and they were only $24.99!
